DESCRIPTION:At the request of His Holiness the Dalai Lama\, Geshe Tsultrim is teaching the “12 Links of Dependent Origination”\, which covers how the wheel of samsara continues and how we can break free from the cycle of birth\, aging\, sickness and death. \nTuesdays August 8 and 15*\, 6:30pm-8:30pm\nat Diamond Light Meditation Center\n2791 24th Street\, Room 14 (upstairs)\nSacramento\, CA 95818\nparking lot in back\, ADA accessible \n*Geshe Tsultrim was called back to India earlier than originally planned. He will be back to finish the rest of the 12 links in October! We will be meeting Tuesday nights for the rest of August and September\, check back for topics as we add to the schedule! Thank you for your understanding.  \nCost: donations welcome \nhttps://www.diamondlightsac.org \nGeshe Lobsang Tsultrim is part of the Gaden Shartse Monastery in south India. “Geshe” is a degree that is earned after several years of intensive study and passing the highest-level exams. Geshe Tsultrim is an expert on Buddhist philosophy and a skilled artist\, specializing in traditional Tibetan art. Recognizing the value of his artistry skills\, Gaden Shartse monastery chose Geshe Tsultrim as one of 11 monks to tour throughout North\, Central\, and South America to raise funds to support the monastery. In 2001\, Gaden Shartse sent Geshe Tsultrim to the United States to continue his studies and to work at the Gaden Shartse Thubten Dhargye Ling Center in Long Beach\, California.

DESCRIPTION:Each Thursday from 6:30pm-8:30pm \nCommunity Meditation is a new offering from Diamond Light Meditation Center beginning June 1st and will be ongoing Thursday nights! All levels are welcome! Learn to meditate and develop a meditation practice in a supportive community. \nMeditation helps us to calm the mind\, develop concentration\, and reduce stress. We will explore various types of meditation in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition\, such as analytical and placement meditation. Analytical meditation deepens our understanding of the Dharma through exploring subjects on the lam rim (stages of the path). Placement\, or concentration (“calm abiding”)\, allows the practitioner to stay on their “object”\, and to deepen realizations.\nThose new to meditation will learn enjoy learning how to start a practice\, and experienced practitioners will enjoy the support of sitting with a group. \nJoin members of our community for meditation practice and discussion. If you are new to meditation\, come learn how to start your practice\, meet experienced practitioners\, and enjoy the community of group meditation.
