DESCRIPTION:A stable\, relaxed meditation posture is essential to deepening our meditation. Join Marc Ross\, doctor of chiropractic medicine and long time meditator for this interactive workshop where we will explore how to find balance and ease as we meditate. We will learn the fine points of seated and supine postures and experiment with many types of cushions and support. \nWhen: Tuesday\, August 22\, 6:30 to 8:30pm\nWhere: Diamond Light Tibetan Buddhist Group\, 2791 24th Street\, Room 14\, Sacramento CA 95818\nCost: free\, donations gratefully accepted.\nWhat to wear: loose\, comfortable\, non-restricting clothing. This is really important!\nWhat to bring: all your cushions and supports\, we will be trying out many different types to settle on the ones that are most comfortable for our unique bodies. \nAbout the teacher: Marc Ross has practiced physical medicine for 37 years and has been meditating for 30 years. He has taught meditation in America and in Europe. Marc was introduced to Buddhism and meditation through the study of yoga in the mid 1990’s. Since then he has been blessed to study the teachings of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Alan Wallace along with several other Lamas. He has practiced Chiopractic Medicine and other healing modalities for 37 years\, & has been teaching meditation in the US and Europe.

DESCRIPTION:Each Thursday from 6:30pm-8:30pm \nCommunity Meditation is a new offering from Diamond Light Meditation Center beginning June 1st and will be ongoing Thursday nights! All levels are welcome! Learn to meditate and develop a meditation practice in a supportive community. \nMeditation helps us to calm the mind\, develop concentration\, and reduce stress. We will explore various types of meditation in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition\, such as analytical and placement meditation. Analytical meditation deepens our understanding of the Dharma through exploring subjects on the lam rim (stages of the path). Placement\, or concentration (“calm abiding”)\, allows the practitioner to stay on their “object”\, and to deepen realizations.\nThose new to meditation will learn enjoy learning how to start a practice\, and experienced practitioners will enjoy the support of sitting with a group. \nJoin members of our community for meditation practice and discussion. If you are new to meditation\, come learn how to start your practice\, meet experienced practitioners\, and enjoy the community of group meditation.
